The Next Generation Vehicle Project works on the supposition that hybrid platforms will be decisive for the car industry for the next 15 to 20 years. While today, we speak of full or mild hybrids, by 2020 we probably will have arrived at some kind of hydrogen solution. New vehicles then will produce no emissions at all, except for water.
  
No matter what the scenario, achievements from the Next Generation Vehicle Project will have an ongoing influence on the car producing industries. Weight will continue to be a central issue for any future car production.
